Why have your jewellery valued?

A jewellery valuation is more than a piece of paper with a monetary value on it. Your valuation document contains detailed and precise descriptions (including measurements and weight estimations), gem & diamond information & images providing a fully detailed record  of your jewellery. In the unfortunate case you have a piece of jewellery lost, stolen or damaged the valuation document provides a record which not only will help in financial compensation but also  ensure any replacement is as close to the original as possible.

What is the process?

It all starts with a phone call, email or store visit to initially discuss what items you have and your valuation needs. The valuation process involves cleaning (where appropriate) and inspecting all jewellery. Essential details such as gem measurements & weight, quality (4Cs), hallmarks & manufacture methods are recorded. Gemstones and diamonds will be tested and compared to any accompanying reports. The jewellery will be photographed which will be included in the final valuation. Once the valuation is complete you will receive a colour printed document which can be preserved making a nice record to keep.

About your valuer ...

My jewellery career began in 2012 with very little knowledge on the industry. Since that first day I  became fascinated by the colours of many wonderful gems, the sparkle of diamond & shimmer of gold. This fascination led to me becoming a qualified diamond grader (DGA), gemmologist (FGA) & valuer (MJVA). Upon completing my gemmological qualifications I also had the opportunity to pass on what I had learnt as a secondary tutor for The Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A), which is the worlds longest established provider of gem & jewellery education. r Working for an independent jewellers has given me great hands-on experience from not interacting with customers to building relationships with diamond & gemstone dealers, jewellery manufacturers, designers & repairers which is essential for a valuer. My eye for detail, genuine interest in jewellery & desire to be part of one of the most respected roles within the trade is what has led me to become a valuer.
